Generation Cures and Children's Hospital Boston want to help you make sure that you are safe online playing these games and learning on this site. There are some simple rules that will help you do this. Parents and kids should review these together.
- On this site, we will never ask a child for real name, age, location, phone number or school. If somehow someone says they are us, and ask for it, do not believe it and do not give your information out.
- Don't share your password with anyone except your parents. It can be tempting to say yes if a friend asks for it, but don't. Even if they are just planning to play a joke by pretending to be you, the consequences can be really bad if they give out your personal information, use your on-line identity to harass someone else, or break the basic rules of participating.
- Keep your parents involved! Let them know - and let us know if it relates to this site or our games — if someone says or does something online that you think is wrong or worries you, or if someone asks you for personal information. You are smart, and you have some of the best eyes and ears! - Help your parents and us keep the online world safe and fun!
- Your online name should not be easily connected to your real name or other personal identifiers. Also, don't use names that you think would annoy people, be mean, or get you in trouble, even if you think it is just a joke. Don't use someone else's real name for example, or a name that sounds racist, or mocks someone, or is in any way bad.
- This is a big one: At least for a while we will not have chat rooms, but we are saying it anyway. Don't go into strange chat rooms. Always talk to your parents about what chat rooms you want to go into. Have them look at them with you before you do. Make sure whoever is running them is legitimate, and make sure they are actively monitored by moderators. Report anything weird really fast.
